Survey: Help Shape the Future of Recycled Materials in Queensland’s Road Infrastructure

Industry Professionals are invited to help shape the future of recycled materials in Queensland road infrastructure.

This survey is being conducted by the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO), in collaboration with the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) through the National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE) program.

As Australia continues to move towards more sustainable construction practices, recycled materials have a vital role to play in reducing waste, conserving natural resources, and lowering the carbon footprint of road networks. This survey provides an important opportunity for you to share your insights and experiences to guide future specifications, standards, and policy direction.

What the Project Aims to Understand

The survey focuses on gathering real-world knowledge about:

  • Current usage, supply, and delivery patterns of recycled materials
  • Barriers and opportunities in the adoption of these materials
  • Existing specifications and resources currently used across the sector

Who Should Participate

The NTRO and TMR are seeking input from a wide range of professionals, including those involved in:

  • Recycled material supply and manufacturing
  • Materials and pavement design
  • Project engineering and construction delivery
  • Asset management
  • Procurement and contract management

Whether you are supplying, buying or delivering projects that integrate recycled materials, your input will help ensure that future guidance reflects the practical realities of the industry.

Why It Matters

Your contribution will directly inform the development of strategies that support sustainable, cost-effective, and durable pavements across Queensland. By sharing your perspective, you’ll help shape policies that encourage innovation while addressing barriers to adoption, paving the way for a more circular economy in the transport sector.

How to Participate

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open until 12th September 2025.
