Sand-Concrete Pavements Gainful Use of Local Materials

To complete the road between La Teste town and the famous <>, the Gironde Regional Council use the knowledge and experience requied during the national research and development project on sand concrete named SABLOCRETE to build a sand concrete slab pavement structure along 3,5 kilometres. The owners and engineers of this project benefited from the technical support of the LCPC laboratories (Laboratoire des Ponts et Chaussées) and from the know how of the company CMR GT. This article present the detail of the works, the structural and the mix design and all the best results performed by the LCPC. The main advantage of SABLOCRE1E is the economy afforded and the preservation of natural resources and the environment in sand rich regions.
