Safety and Durability of Pedestrian Precast Concrete Pavements

Paper by SANZ from ISCR 11th 2010 Seville Spain

The National Precast Concrete Association, the Official Laboratory of the Mining University School of Madrid through the Gomez Pardo Foundation and a group of Spanish manufactures of terrazzo tiles, with the collaboration of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade have developed a research project to find and test new solutions for safety and durability of pedestrian precast concrete pavements. The key of the project has been testing water absorption and unpolished slipperiness resistance of different products manufactured using different techniques, additives, or processes. The goal is to increase the values of the technical characteristics associated to the test accomplished and in that way improve the behavior of the pavement in normal pedestrian use.
