Repair of Concrete Pavements Under Op-Eration

Paper by CONTRATTO from ISCR 9th 2004 Instanbul Turkey

Don't we all loath them – traffic jams. Irrespective of how we are affected by them, either directly as a user of traffic infrastructure or as a construction worker involved with its upkeep or indirectly as a conscious citizen aware of their economical impact, we all wish they could be avoided. It is this desire, that challenges all parties involved with the maintenance and repair of traffic infrastructure to develop new and innovative solutions which minimise the impact of construction activities on traffic flow. Allow me to describe two such repair solutions which Walo Bertschinger AG Zurich were able to apply for the runways of Zurich airport in 2002. In the described case study, the airfield maintenance department of the airport operator, Unique (Flughafen Zürich AG) specified that the repair work be completed without air traffic hindrance.
