Paper by MODRY KADLECEK from ISCR 8th 1998 Lisbon Portugal
Possibilities of applying methods of surface absorption, mercury intrusion porosimetry, pull-off strength tests and thermal analysis in the assessment of the state of the surface layer of a concrete airport runway are given. The results of the tests of properties of differently deteriorated surface layers of concrete in an airport ruuway have shown the possibility applying the determination of surface water absorption, and also mercury intrusion porosirnetry to the assessment of their state under laboratory conditions. Results of tests of the degree of carbonation and phase composition at different depths under the exposed concrete surface also corresponded to the degree of deterioration The pull-off strength test of the concrete surface layer reflected the existing state of deterioration less sensitively.
