Overview Of European Concrete Roads Study Mission (Nov 1994)

CCA Road Note 45 by Cement and Concrete Association

During the first two weeks of October, in excellent weather, a group of six engineers from four Australian States participated in the C&CAA-arranged study mission to Europe. The mission was established to study the topics of: • concrete tollway operations. • road widening/overlays. • quality systems as applied to construction and materials; and • surface properties and noise-related issues. The two weeks commenced with attendance at the 7th International Symposium on Concrete Roads in Vienna — a joint PIARC, Cembureau and VOZ Conference attended by over 700 delegates from more than 40 countries with some 150 published papers. Many topics were covered, including OA, Design and Performance, Whole Life Costing, Noise- Reducing Surfaces and Skid Resistance/Reliability. The bound volumes are retained in C&CAA’s National Library in North Sydney.
