Paper by POSPISIL STRYK from ISCR 10th 2006 Brussels Belgium

For a long time the professional community in the Czech Republic have been criticizing the fact, that construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of motorways are not systematically studied in light of technology, functionality and reliability in connection with economy of these processes. Therefore the authors of this paper began an R&D project “Rigid pavements – new technologies of construction, rehabilitation and maintenance, including rigid and flexible pavement technologies comparison” granted by the Czech Ministry of Transport. The four-year project started last year and is based on long-time monitoring of motorways. The paper presents evaluation of conditions of both rigid and flexible pavements of the most loaded motorways in the Czech Republic including effectiveness of used maintenance techniques.
