In Situ Capping Layers Treatment with the Faquir Equipment

Paper by SAINTON from ISCR 7th 1994 Vienna Austria

The treatment of subgrades with hydraulic binders is designed to increase the bearing capacity of the roadbed significantly. It thus offers a better support to the worksite traffic and the subgrade can be taken into account in the overall structural design of the pavement. The economic stakes are thus evident. Among existing subgrade treatment methods, in place treatment using an equipment like Faquir (French acronym for automated method for construction of industrial quality road subgrades) is by far the most advantageous process thanks to the available power of grinding and mixing, the savings of material and thickness of the upper surface layers.
