High-Volume Fly Ash Concrete for Concrete Pavements

Paper by UZAL BEKTAÞ TURANLÝ from ISCR 9th 2004 Instanbul Turkey

This paper presents the data on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete made with replacement of the Portland cement by fly ash, from a thermal power plant in Turkey, up to large volumes (55%). The investigated parameters are water requirement for a given slump, air content, setting time of fresh concrete and compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, drying shrinkage of hardened concrete. All tests were performed in accordance with related ASTM standard. The properties of high-volume fly ash concrete were evaluated comparatively with ordinary Portland cement concrete.
