Development of Cement Treated Asphalt Mixtures for Pavement Rehabilitation

Paper by HACHIYA YIN SATO from ISCR 8th 1998 Lisbon Portugal

Cement treated asphalt mixtures (CTAM), which are composed of an asphalt mixture and cement milk injected into voids of the asphalt mixture, were studied for use as a fast overlay material for airport pavements. The cement milk must have adequate fluidity for about 30 minutes and must develop a flexural strength of 2N/mm 2 three hours after producing. For the asphalt mixture, a modified asphalt with about 25% air voids is required. The cement milk must be poured when the temperature of the asphalt mixture has fallen to 80 °C.
