Cyclic CBR Test of the Natural and Improved Soils

Paper by HAUSER ŠEVELOVÁ KOZUMPLÍKOVÁ from ISCR 11th 2010 Seville Spain

Improvement or stabilization of soils in subgrade by using lime or binders can provide significantly improved engineering properties. The results of soil improvement can be very substantial increases in resilient modulus values, in shear strength, continued strength gain with time even after periods of damage and long-term durability over decades of service even under severe environmental conditions. Many present empirical design methods are based on CBR test. Assessment CBR values and its use for determination of resilient modulus, which is used e.g. for numerical FEM models, is possible by using several methods. One method is cyclic CBR test, which can substitute cyclic triaxial test in simple cases.
