Continuously reinforced concrete overlays on various French motorways Constraints of a technical nature and due to the organisation of sites operating under traffic

Paper by AUNIS CAHORS DUTARD from ISCR 5th 1986 Aachen Germany

The construction of continuously reinforced concrete overlays across the full carriageway width on busy motorways involves the need to make certain technical choices with respect to the materials employed (especially the cement), the plant and methods for carrying out the work and the organization and planning of the job, having regard to the need to maintain an acceptable level of use by traffic on the motorway. The paper deals with these subjects, with particular reference to the following points: - ways of keeping traffic running on the motorway during the execution of the work; safety precautions; - job execution planning; - technical choices dictated by constraints due to time and space factors.
