Paper by RIVERA JORGE JOFRÉ from ISCR 7th 1994 Vienna Austria
In January 1 9a9 1ro, ad section of 12 km, the access to Zaragoza from Huesca (Spain), was opened to the traffic. Works presented two main technical singularities in Spanish road design and construction. The first one was the introduction in Spain of the construction of rigid pavements on bituminous draining bases. The second singularity consisted in strengthening the old carriageway of bituminous pavement with a cement concrete layer of 270 mm average thickness. The problems during construction and the behaviour under traffic may give valuable information for the future design of new and strengthened roads.
