Concrete Wheel Tracks – The Ecological and Economic Alternative in Rural Road Construction

Paper by SCHWARZ from ISCR 7th 1994 Vienna Austria

The changes in the landscape happened during the last 40 years due to human activity have produced a slow change of mind. Therefore it is no wonder that also for road construction nature is taken more into account. The Concrete wheel track is a compromise. Firstly it prevents from covering the whole track surface and secondly it results in a dustfree track. Due to its durability concrete represents the best construction material also from the economic point of view. In the long term the completed concrete wheel track, covered with greenery, will be accepted by everybody and not considered as a disturbing intervention in nature.
