Cement Concrete Structures in the Design of Urban Roadways

Paper by CHRISTORY ROUSSEL from ISCR 7th 1994 Vienna Austria

Urban roadways represent considerable stakes from both the quantitative and qualitative standpoints, with the almost permanent concern today for integration with respect to the site and to users of public spaces. A non-exhaustive review of the trends in practices and tools available to designers, builders and managers of urban roadways shows clearly the suitability of cement concrete owing to the diversity of Its supply and its adaptation for use as a base as well as a surfacing. Guides recently published in France as an aid to planners, designers and builders reflect the great expectations existing in regard to these developing opportunities, and the need for making better use of the know-how of engineers and contractors.
