Application of a Shrinkage Reducing Agent (SRA) in Concrete Pavements

Paper and Presentation by Bruno D’Souza from ASCP 3rd Concrete Pavements 2015

SRAs have been used in concrete in Australia since their introduction into the marketplace in the mid1990s. However, its recent application in a major road project in NSW has generated interest from Government bodies, engineers and contractors within this sector of the construction industry.

The author therefore wishes to discuss the effects of concrete mix ingredients on drying shrinkage including the mechanism, attributes and performance of a SRA at varying dosages.

Data on the short as well as long term performance of a SRA along with its benefits and a review of research work conducted in the USA are also presented in the paper.
