About Dr. King

Dan King is a research engineer at the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center at Iowa State University. Dan directs a number of the center’s technology transfer and education initiatives, as well as in-house research projects on concrete pavement- and materials-related topics. Dan received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his PhD in Civil Engineering at Iowa State University, and is registered as a PE in Iowa.

Relevant Qualifications

  • PhD (2024) in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University.
  • B.S. (2013) and M.S. (2016) in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • Served since 2021 as a Research Engineer for the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center), the national research and technology transfer center for concrete pavements in the US, based at Iowa State University.
  • Worked from 2015 to 2021 as an engineer (final position as Concrete Research and Design Director) for the Iowa Concrete Paving Association, the trade association representing the concrete paving industry in Iowa, one of the leading markets for concrete pavements in the US.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the US state of Iowa.
