ASCP Technical Forum Series – F2F Event, 10am – 4pm Tuesday, 19th August 2025
Host: QLD TMR’s City Office, Level 6, 313 Adelaide St, Brisbane
The August 2025 ASCP Pavement Technical Forum will feature speakers across the full spectrum of the concrete paving industry, with topics as widely varied.
The day will begin with a Welcome and Introduction from Tim Buckingham-Jones (Aurecon), setting the tone for a day of project insights and innovation. Attendees will enjoy morning tea on arrival, before Derek Wong (ARUP) takes the stage to explore concrete pavement designs and construction innovation, featuring key learnings from the Brisbane Metro project.
Following this, Daniel Scott (AECOM) will provide an overview of the GCLR Track Slab Design, before Luke Avery (John Holland Group) shares an update on construction progress for the same project. Peter Bryant (QLD TMR) will round out the morning with a departmental update on TMR’s latest pavement design initiatives.
After the lunch break, Ross Guppy (Austroads) will provide a national update from the Austroads Pavement Taskforce. We’ll then hear from Dr. Wayne Muller (Coded Radar) on advancements in radar technology for pavements, followed by Peter Carson (Carson Group), who returns to discuss plastic shrinkage cracking, curing methods, and mix design best practices.
Following afternoon tea, Sean Jamieson (University of the Sunshine Coast) will share current research initiatives for rigid aircraft pavements. The final technical session will see Peter Carson return to present “Concrete Pavement Construction Practices 101,” offering a practical wrap-up before Tim Buckingham-Jones closes the day.
