Conventional maintenance of rutted asphalt roads means resurfacing in short intervals or substitution of thick layers. Therefore, a new repair method was tested: Milling the top of the existing asphalt pavement, cleaning the surface and plaeing a dan layci of high performance concrete. The behaviour of the composite structure was tested both in the laboratory and in the field. In summer 1995 the approach to a weigh-bridge was topped with 10 cm of high-performance concrete withjoints every 1,2 m, opened to traffic 2 '/2 days after placing, is used by 200 heavy luilies dii1y and is performing excellently.
