Paper by ILICALI OZEY KAHVECI from ISCR 7th 1994 Vienna Austria

In this paper we discuss about how to select the best pavement type to minimize the pavement cost. It is studied which pavement type (flexible or rigid pavement alternatively) is more suitable for Turkey taking into account economic criteria. The most important parameters for choosing the type of pavement are the traffic, the California bearing ratio, regional factors and the serviceability indexes examined separately. 42 different data groups were established. After that, rigid and flexible pavement designs and their cost is calculated by the unit prices of 1993. Consequently it is analysed how to determine which type of pavement is more economical.
