The properties of concrete mixes produced by replacing the coarse aggregates by milled bituminous materials of the same grading are studied in the laboratory. The milled bituminous material used comes from reclaimed asphalt concrete produced in road maintenance works. The properties investigated are compressive and flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, and electrodynamic (resonance) modulus of elasticity. Various mixes are prepared with proportions b.m. of crushed aggregates and milled bituminous materials 100/0, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, 0/100 respectively. The results are discussed in terms of changes of strength and modulus as the replacement proportion is increased. The ratio of the flexural to compressive strength as well as the ratio of the modulus of elasticity to flexural strength are examined. Finally, these values are discussed in terms of pavement design needs and anticipated performance.
