This paper describes the usage of concrete safety barrier on high speed roads in the UK, drawing on experiences gained over the 10 years since their introduction, and the enhancements and improvements developed in this time. The paper is primarily concerned with in-situ slipformed concrete safety barrier and comments on likely future developments with the introduction of the European Standard EN 1317 Road Restraint Systems.
