Paper by HORRIGMOE RINDAL from ISCR 6th 1990
The present paper is devoted to the development of high strength, frost resistant roller compacted concrete. Effects of using silica fume, superplasticizer and air-entraining admixture in Ree are investigated in a comprehensive laboratory research program. It is demonstrated that it is possible through the use of these additives to achieve high strength Ree with 28-day compressive strength of more than 80 MPa. Similar positive effects were registered for tensile splitting strength of Ree specimens. Last, but not least, the ability of roller compacted concrete to resist cycles of freeze-thaw was significantly improved, especially by use of silica fume.
