Presentation by Silicone Joint Seal Performance September 2012 from Silicone Joint Seal Performance
Following a series of relevantly recent failures in silicone joint sealants, ASCP undertook an investigation into these occurrances and probable causes.
The findings from this investigation were provided to RMS for their consideration. As a result of this collaborative effort, RMS has issued a Quality Alert (QA 34) which identifies issues and contains certain minimum quality requirements for the preparation of joints and the use of silicone sealants. QA 34 is included below.
This report identifies a number of joint sealant failures, the several factors which may contribute to the failures, and concludes with recommendations for preventing such failures in the future.
