Interpretation of Deflection Data from Jointed Concrete Pavements

Many under-thickness 1980’s PCP pavements on LMC subbases are approaching the need for rehabilitation.

This paper examines Deflectograph and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) data from the M1 Tuggerah to Doyalson Upgrade to understand how this data can be interpreted with reference to Austroads Guides. This includes the determination of differential and maximum deflection at transverse joints and cracks and criteria for under-sealing.

The paper expands on the data description and analysis undertaken by Professor Zollinger of CMS Engineering Group in July 2015.
